The surveyor then compares the metes and bounds legal description of the land in question with the title commitment. They use that comparison to create a survey of the land. That survey will also include important lot and block boundary lines. The resulting survey that the surveyor produces will ultimately become the plat.
Once the surveyor is finished, the survey/plat goes to be approved by the county or city surveyor, who will review it to make sure everything is in order. Most importantly, they will make sure the plat is legal based on whatever local requirements and ordinances exist in the particular area.
